Coda Museum, Apeldoorn
9 July 2013 – 13 October 2013
Group exhibition
For this exhibition, seven contemporary artists have been selected who, through a limited color palette, seek to shape and define the world in which they live: Witho Worms, Joan van Barneveld, Silvia B., Dirk Braeckman, Natasja Kensmil, Folkert de Jong, and Raquel Maulwurf.

The color black runs as a common thread through their work. This restriction in color also amplifies the significance of material use in their art. The exhibited artworks are not accompanied by lengthy explanatory texts. In curating CODA Black, attention was given to parallels and similarities with other artists—sometimes predecessors, sometimes contemporaries. The “combinations” created were, where possible, discussed with the artists themselves. The pairings we formed could be interpreted as a “viewing guide.”
