Kunsthal Rotterdam joins forces with the Vereniging Bedrijfscollecties Nederland (VBCN) for the exhibition Blue Zone. Marking the 20th anniversary of the VBCN—a network of 51 companies that together hold more than 100,000 artworks—the exhibition brings together over 70 works in which the color blue takes center stage. Paintings, sculptures, light installations, photography, and video works enter into unexpected dialogues with one another throughout the show.
Blue has long been a source of fascination for artists, while also being a prominent element in the visual identity of many companies. Blue Zone invites visitors to experience the power of this color in all its variations: from meditative compositions to dynamic images, and from abstraction to figurative representation. The exhibition features a wide-ranging selection from various corporate collections, including works by Armando, Rudi Beerens, Eugenie Boon, Rineke Dijkstra, Esiri Erheriene-Essi, Natasja Kensmil, Henri Matisse, Tamara Muller, Terry O’Neill, Rob Scholte, Nadine Stijns, Peim van der Sloot, and Co Westerik.
